Public Art Commissions

My work is collected nationally and internationally, and has been placed in hospitals, universities, and corporate environments where it is seen every day by thousands of people. I create site specific work for public spaces, civic buildings, corporate campuses, healthcare and educational facilities, and private developments.

Art changes how people experience a place. A well placed work can become a meeting point, a mural can give a neighborhood its identity, and an integrated architectural piece can turn a lobby into somewhere people remember.

Selected public and institutional work

Intel purchased Hearts and Hero Heart for San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. Additional commissions include Southern Connecticut State University's School of Business and the VCU Health Liver Transplant Unit.

Recognition

My work has been selected by curators affiliated with the Guggenheim and LACMA, and exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art Marin, Mystic Museum of Art, Marietta Cobb Museum of Art, Greenwich Art Society, and Candita Clayton Gallery. I received the Dagny Hultgreen Award for Best in Show at the Greenwich Art Society's 103rd Annual Bendheim Exhibit, and hold an MFA in Painting from Academy of Art University and a BA in Design from Curry College.

Work that belongs to its place

Every commission begins with the site: its history, its community, its light, its materials, and the way people move through it. Rather than placing an existing piece into a space, I develop work that responds to what is already there, so the finished piece feels like it was always meant to be part of it. My practice spans painting, large scale geometric abstraction, and site responsive installation, in materials chosen for durability, safety, and low long term maintenance.

A collaborative process

I work closely with architects, designers, developers, public art agencies, and selection committees from early concept through installation. A typical commission moves through five stages.

Discovery. We discuss the site, goals, audience, budget, and timeline, and I review plans, renderings, and any community or program requirements.
Concept. I present initial ideas through sketches, models, or digital renderings, along with material options and a preliminary budget.
Design development. The chosen concept is refined with engineering, fabrication details, and coordination with your architectural and construction teams.
Fabrication. The work is produced in my studio or with trusted fabrication partners, with progress updates along the way.
Installation. I oversee installation on site and provide documentation, maintenance guidelines, and any required certifications.

Experience with public processes

I am familiar with RFQ and RFP submissions, percent for art programs, community engagement sessions, and the approvals, insurance, and engineering requirements that come with public work. Committees and project teams can expect clear documentation, realistic budgets, and work delivered on schedule.
